Quebec School Bans Cellphones After YouTube Video Captures Teacher Yelling at Students

A Gatineau, Que. , teacher is on stress leave and his school has banned personal electronic devices in the classroom after a video of him shouting at a student was posted on the YouTube website. École Secondaire Mont-Bleu has also suspended two 13-year-old girls. According to the Portages-de-l'Outaouais school board, the incident took place a month ago, when one student provoked the teacher into yelling at her while a classmate secretly taped the confrontation. Report: Aboriginal Children in Canada Face Terrible Poverty

A national network of advocacy groups released a report on Friday that paints a bleak picture of poverty facing First Nations children in Canada. In its report called Oh Canada! Too Many Children in Poverty for Too Long, advocacy group Campaign 2000 says First Nations children are suffering the greatest levels of poverty of all children in the country. The report says one in four children in First Nations communities lives in poverty and it calls upon federal and provincial governments to take action to ensure aboriginal children on reserves and in urban areas will thrive. . .  More...
