Sharon's Message About BBN's Development...

UPDATE 1.10.12 - Happy New Year! We are targeted to reintroduce our new platform and services by the end of the month. That is the plan. Thank you again for your patience, but it will be worth the wait!
UPDATE 12.28.11 - Happy Holidays! Please take a moment to read my most recent update and note about our relaunch. We are delayed, but I promise you the process continues and we have much to look forward to in 2012 and beyond!
UPDATE 10.11.11 - BBN reviewed several templates presented to us by our developer. We are also working on new features and the back-end of the development process, including continued media-new journalism training. This training is part of our partnership with CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and made possible through a Ford Foundation grant that explores strengthening ethnic and community press in New York City. We are on schedule in the development process with an expected relaunch date of late November, early December 2011. We will keep you updated!
UPDATE: July 25, 2011 - In our partnership with CUNY's Graduate School of Journalism we will begin building BBN's new website and its features in September. We are enthusiastically working on gathering information, surveying our existing members and getting trained on new media and business models. BBN will be a much more effective and efficient service to you. Stand by for more updates on our progress!

Greetings BBN Members, Supporters and Friends,
I have wonderful news to report!
BBN has been selected by CUNY’s Graduate School of Journalism to participate in a case study for the community and ethnic press in New York City. Through a Ford Foundation grant the CUNY J-School will lay the groundwork for establishing a New York Community and Ethnic Media Center. As a case study partner, the journalism school and BBN will collaborate and share information as well as resources.
This year BBN marks a milestone occasion. On September 26 we will celebrate year five.
Though we have enjoyed much success through journalism awards as well as original reporting and coverage, this partnership with CUNY J-School is an opportunity to move us to the next level of service to you and it comes at a critical time. Our technology is dated and to be a relevant source and service we require more robust content and a business model that will sustain us. With this partnership we will receive support and resources in all of those critical areas.
What happens next?
In the coming months we will work behind the scenes in partnership with CUNY J-School. During that time we will also send a survey to our members and ask for input on what features and information they would like to see. And in the fourth quarter of 2011 we are scheduled to relaunch! The site will continue to be updated, however, with less frequency. So, please stay with BBN.
I thank you for your continued support and interest in the work we are doing at BBN.
Standby for a great new BlackandBrownNews.com!
Thank you y Gracias!
Sharon
