Caught On Tape: Jesse Jackson Disparages Barack Obama.

July 09, 2008 by editor  (View Source

(huffpost) The Rev. Jesse Jackson issued an apology to Barack Obama Wednesday for making what he called a "crude and hurtful" remark about the Illinois senator's recent comments directed toward some members of the black community. According to Jackson, a Fox News microphone picked up comments he meant to deliver privately that seemed to disparage the presumptive Democratic nominee for appearing to lecture the black community on morality. Jackson didn't elaborate on the context of his remarks, except to say he was trying to explain that Obama was hurting his relationship with black voters by recently conducting "moral" lectures at African-American churches. Jackson's apology came a few hours before Fox News planned to air the remarks. Speaking to CNN Wednesday, Jackson said he feels "very distressed" over the comments.

What's really happening here is the lost of influence and a swipe at the process that brought it about. Mr. Jackson's anger isn't about the lack of respect Mr. obama may or may not have toward black people. This is about not having a seat at the parade. The Senator's candidacy signals a new posture in American politics. Like his move to the center, Mr. Obama is circumventing the liberal and black power structure on the road to the White House. For more than thirty years, the left has been ignored and finally, the same can be said for the black elite. Messers Jackson, Sharpton, Bond, Young, Rangel and Smiley, among other have been laying obstacles before him with the passing need of acknowledgement, and by process, to give him permission to run for national office. This isn't about direspect to black people, it's about respect for black elites. Without benefit of elections and validated by the few the mainstream media deems worthy, do these people carry any influence. I'm at a lost as to why black people must be represented by only these media-hyped demigogues. They've acquired power without accountability and has failed for forty year without penalty. But their power has wained and manifested is the evident stress of power lost. Mr. Jackson has vented against that which wasn't given him. His Due Deferrence.
