BBN Editors: Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was forced to resign as Governor in scandal and disgrace in 2008. Federal investigators stung him in a prostitution ring. Federal documents listed him as "Client #9" (each John or ‘Client’ was given a number). Just last week U.S. Prosecutors declined to prosecute the former Governor. Like many of his political colleagues caught in scandal - for any number of reasons - Spitzer promised to seek therapy after resigning. Before his role as Governor of NY, Spitzer was the State Attorney General. That office holds the distinction of being the chief law enforcement officer of NY entrusted to investigate unlawful activity. While in that role Spitzer earned the name ‘Sheriff of Wall Street’ for his aggressive, heavy hand on the Masters of the Universe. Spitzer - who local New York Press often referred to as Eliot ‘Mess’ Spitzer - is no longer in public office. Some believe his downfall was comeuppance brought on by a sense of supreme arrogance and entitlement, lack of diplomacy, no friends, and a trail of mean spirit he’s left behind in his years in public service. We trust President-Elect Obama has plenty of bright, lawful minds surrounding and advising him, and not in need of Spitzer’s free advice.
