EFCA EFCA everywhere

While Rush Limbaugh is trying to out-gaffe KY Senator Bunning, it looks like more and more of the fourth estate is catching onto the Employee Free Choice Act. And for good reason, as it offers the drama and intrigue of partisan politics yet is a political issue that's a little easier to wrap our heads around than, say ... universal health care, TARP, TIAF or the many levels of nationalization and bailouts.

The Detroit Free Press summarizes EFCA's prospects from the AFL-CIO's winter meeting in Miami as:

Samuel said he expects the long-anticipated bill to be introduced “in days or weeks” and a vote as early as sometime this spring.

Union leaders believe this year offers the best chance in a generation for wholesale change of labor laws that, after years of decline, would swell the ranks of organized labor — now about 12% of the work force — by millions of new members.

Meanwhile, IndyWeek of the Triangle, tries to explain what EFCA may mean for North Carolina, the least unionized state in the country.

In Denver, the Post gave AFL Secretary-
Treasurer this space
on the op-ed pages.

And, the WashDC based Economic Policy Institute offers a portal of information on EFCA and Labor Policy.

South Florida has been one of the hotbeds of new labor organizing in the past decade -- with unions growing amongst:
... sectors like janitors and public school teachers,
... immigrant communities,
... and even out to an exclusive island that's the domain of Miami's super-rich.
