Cloudware, Collaborating Online and Freeware

March 08, 2009 by Chad Jones, Contributor (View Source

I was reading a recent issue of Entrepreneur magazine, and came across an article recounting the proliferation of group project tools that are available online. Plenty of them are known as freeware = software that is free.

Here are some of the intriguing ones:
www.policymap.com -- map it, rather than just leave it in a table, a paragraph or Excel spreadsheet.
Collective X -- for group projects and collaboration
www.doodle.com -- to do quick one-question polls (like surveymonkey, but just one thing).
www.slideshare.net -- shares slides, essentially.
Yugma.com -- more group work.

Oh, and this was in the issue that had the makers of AniMoto online software and service on the cover. Animoto has a free/promotional version of its software. It requires two steps:
1) You upload a set of photos to their webpage,
2) You pick a song that you'd like to accompany the slideshow.
And Animoto will generate a 30-second slideshow of those photos with music. It's only 30 seconds because anything more costs money.
